June 2011
Relay for Life - American Cancer Society
Members of the Antioch and Pittsburg Curves, captained by Virginia Rice, raised over $10,000, making them a Top 10 Team! Many thanks to the members that did individual fund-raising, the members that participated in fund-raising efforts in the club, and that walked for 24 hrs at the relay site, especially the hardy soles that kept the vigil through the midnight hours.
April 2011
April was Food Drive Month at Curves!!
Members collected 1380 lbs of non-perishable food for the
Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano Counties. That donation will be matched by a grant from the Feinstein Foundation!
Members also donated $625 to Loaves & Fishes, a great organization that provides hot meals 5 days a week in Antioch and Oakley. The club waived sign up fees for new members who joined in April, in exchange for their generous donations.
November - December 2010
Members collected toys for distribution to Antioch youth by Grannies Anonymous. The club waived sign up fees in exchange for a generous donation of new toy(s) or checks.
A local organization, Grannies Anonymous distribute new, unwrapped toys to parents at the fairgrounds on the 2nd Sat of December. They also allow the parents to make selections from gently used toys. They prefer children not attend, so they have their surprise on Christmas morning!
September 2010
Members collected donations for Friends of Animal Services. Curves also provides a gift membership for the silent auction held at the annual Black Cat Ball in October.
June 2010
